Le Petit Palais is organized around a semi-circular garden. The exhibition spaces are located on the first floor, ground floor devoted to the original offices and reserves. The facade is almost 150 m long, centered by a monumental portico surmounted by a dome. Doric colonnades in adorn the front and the semi-circular peristyle of the inner courtyard. The decor is complemented by many bas-reliefs. In 1902, the Petit Palais becomes the "Palais des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris" to house a permanent collection (from Antiquity to the late nineteenth century, the collections of the twentieth century palace located in Tokyo), and temporary exhibitions.
