Le Petit Palais is organized around a semi-circular garden. The exhibition spaces are located on the first floor, ground floor devoted to the original offices and reserves.
The facade is almost 150 m long, centered by a monumental portico surmounted by a dome. Doric colonnades in adorn the front and the semi-circular peristyle of the inner courtyard. The decor is complemented by many bas-reliefs.
In 1902, the Petit Palais becomes the "Palais des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris" to house a permanent collection (from Antiquity to the late nineteenth century, the collections of the twentieth century palace located in Tokyo), and temporary exhibitions. Panoramic picture petit palais paris
Over the past ten years, contemporary photography was at the Petit Palais when it was decided to present, in the introduction to the major international exhibitions, images inspired by photographers civilizations exposed. Some of these photographs were later acquired by the museum. Contemporary photographs have also been commissioned to the artist Flora at work before the reopening of the Petit Palais.
